Added 1 new A* page:"West megadrought worsens to driest in at least 1,200 years" says APNews; "pushed the 22-year drought past the previous record-holder for megadroughts in the late 1500s." By the tree ring method of measuring historical droughts, 1580 is still the worst single year on record (tree rings can only be used reliably back to 800 AD, so that's why the current megadrought in the American West is "only" the worst in the last "at least" 1200 years—that's all the years we can measure with such accuracy). Tied for second, though? 2002 and 2021. 1580 also had a flu pandemic—killed 10% of the population of Rome, for instance. ~~~~~~~~~ The original 16" x 6.75" watercolor art for today's new A* page is up for auction on eBay. : )
